Mentor, Purdue Psychology Mentoring Program (Aug. 2023 - present)
I serve as a mentor to undergraduate psychology students, primarily students from underrepresented backgrounds. Mentorship subjects included career options, applying to graduate school, how to get involved in research as an undergraduate student, time management and studying strategies, and more.
Graduate Student, UNICORN Lab (Aug. 2022 - present)
As a graduate student in the UNICORN lab, I've worked extensively with our fantastic undergraduate research assistants, often training them on tasks like coding open response data or conducting literature reviews. My most established mentorship experiences in the lab have included guiding two RAs in the writing of sections of a manuscript, for which they earned authorship (Morgenroth, Means, Mueller, & Sass, 2024) and working closely with another two RAs to conduct a meta-analysis (in progress).
Co-Instructor, UNICORN Lab Summer Statistics Workshop (May 2023 - Aug. 2023)
In Summer of 2024, myself and our lab manager co-instructed a statistics workshop for interested undergraduate RAs in the UNICORN lab who had expressed a desire for more hands-on statistics training. We did this on our own time and without prompting from the lab's PI, Dr. Thekla Morgenroth. We taught the RAs basic statistical analysis techniques (e.g., t-tests, regression, ANOVA), emphasizing the contexts of application for each, and taught them how to conduct these tests in SPSS.
Lab Manager, Brauer Group Lab (Aug. 2021 - July 2022)
As a lab manager for the Brauer Group Lab, I oversaw the work of many undergraduate RAs. I sometimes trained and worked with RAs directly on research I was involved in, and also mentored them on professional development-related topics such as applying to graduate schools.
