I'm Kira Means, a fifth-year Social Psychology Ph.D. candidate at Purdue University. 

I am currently on the academic job market! I am seeking tenure-track or post-doctoral researcher positions starting in Fall 2027. 

My research focuses on the enforcement of particular ways of categorizing social groups, including who enforces these systems of categorization, how enforcement occurs, and motivations for enforcement among different groups. I've primarily studied these topics in the context of gender/sex categories, understanding how and why gender/sex is so often categorized strictly and in a binary way, to the detriment of gender/sex minorities. I study these processes at intergroup, intragroup, and structural levels.
